Policies ~

  • Studying the violin or viola is a serious commitment. This requires time and effort for both student and parent. Please limit your child's extra curricular activities to no more than two while enrolled in our program.
  • Parents are required to sit in lessons with your child and take notes, for students in middle school or below.
  • Payment is a set tuition amount due each month.
  • Please pay your tuition by the first week of the month. This will involve planning ahead. Tuition received after the 7th of each month will be charged a $15 late fee. Your tuition includes 13-15 private lessons and 11-12 group classes each semester, depending on the length of the semester. The lessons will occur between the end of August and the middle of December, and then the beginning of January to the middle of May. The group classes occur on Friday afternoons. This tuition is divided into 4 equal monthly payments each semester. Students who sign up for lessons after the school semester has started will only be charged for the remainder of the lessons.
  • Signing up for this program means you are signing up for group classes and private lessons. Both can be offered online.
  • Students are encouraged to partake in other ensembles or orchestras, but this does not replace our studio group classes.
  • Students in books 1-4 are required to take group classes with private lessons in our studio.
  • Books 5 and above are required to join an ensemble or advanced orchestra.
  • The attendance of at least four lessons during the summer is required in order to continue in the fall.
  • Music camps are highly recommended during the summer! Please ask for information on what camps to attend.
  • Payment for summer lessons is paid per lesson and is due on, or before your lesson time.
  • Please schedule summer lessons by May 15th and fall lessons by August 15th.
  • Trial lessons are charged the same as summer lessons, as a one time fee, on or before your lesson.
  • Please attend all lessons and group classes; please arrive on time. if there is a lesson scheduled before yours, please feel free to arrive a few min early to get settled or use the restroom.
  • If more than three group classes are missed during the semester, you may not be allowed to perform on the group class concert.
  • Please keep your teacher's studio a "cell phone free zone." Please set all electronic devices to silent during the lesson. Unless you are recording for practice purposes, which is encouraged.
  • There are no make-up lessons offered during the school semester. Please do not ask for a make-up lesson. However, the teacher will offer two make-up lessons at the end of each semester if needed, from the teacher's cancellations or from an extreme emergency. Cancelled lessons will not be made up.
  • Let your teacher know as soon as possible if you need to miss a lesson out of courtesy.
  • Put LISTENING and REVIEW at the top of your priority list. This will help everything.
  • Please do not bring a sick child to a lesson. If your child is too sick for school, they are too sick to have a lesson.
  • Please stay aware of local health updates for COVID-19 and follow the state guidelines.
  • Email or text message are the best ways to contact your teacher. For sensitive issues that require a phone call, please call in the mornings before 1:00pm. Your teacher is unavailable by phone after 8:00pm. Your teacher is also unavailable during weekends.
  • Please consider emailing your teacher to set up a conference about sensitive issues rather than discuss them in front of your child and waste valuable lesson time.
  • Work hard. Your teacher's assignments are not mere suggestions; they need to be carried out fully in order for your teacher to help you become the best that you can be.
  • Mark your calendar accurately to include all of our events and dates when there are no lessons. Mark recital dates in big red letters. Stay aware of updates.
  • Students in book 2 or above are required to have a 45 minute lesson or longer.
  • Bring all of your materials to your lessons, especially the lesson notebook and music.
  • Please do not purchase a new instrument without first getting your teachers consent. Your teacher will help you purchase the best violin possible for your child and the correct size.
  • If you feel the need to change or switch to a new teacher, speak to your current teacher about this matter first.
  • There are NO REFUNDS.
